The whole campus under one plan

A congregation rarely owns just one room. There is the sanctuary, a fellowship hall with a kitchen, an education wing, church offices, a parking lot and a landscaped entry that greets everyone on the way in. Many churches keep all of that going with a patchwork of volunteers, a weekly cleaner, a landscaper and whoever can be called when a light fixture fails.

Continental Facilities brings that work together. Interior cleaning, floor care, lot sweeping, pressure washing, landscaping and light maintenance run under one schedule with one service manager, so your business administrator or facilities committee has a single call to make about the whole property.

Sanctuaries, campuses and converted spaces

Worship buildings in our service area come in every shape. Historic downtown sanctuaries in San Francisco, Oakland and Sacramento sit beside newer suburban campuses in the Tri-Valley and around Elk Grove and Roseville, with gyms, schools and large parking fields. Other congregations meet in converted office suites or light industrial buildings.

Churches, temples, mosques, synagogues and gurdwaras each bring their own customs about shoes, sacred objects and which rooms a crew may enter. Before the first visit, our service manager walks the property with your leadership and writes those customs into the room-by-room checklist, so the crew treats every space as your community expects.

Where the congregation gathers

In the worship space, pews or chairs are dusted and wiped, book racks and kneelers are cleared of debris, and aisles, the narthex and entry carpet are vacuumed edge to edge. Glass entry doors and display cases are polished. The altar, platform, ark or prayer area is cleaned only as your clergy direct, with nothing moved that should stay in place. Restrooms nearest the sanctuary get special attention before each service, with fixtures, mirrors and partitions cleaned and floors mopped dry.

Tall ceilings, beams, chandeliers and stained-glass ledges gather dust that is hard to reach between Sundays. Our high dusting crews bring the lifts and extension tools to clear them on a set cycle, usually before major holidays.

Fellowship halls, classrooms and offices

A fellowship hall might host a potluck on Sunday, a recovery group on Tuesday and a youth night on Friday. Crews reset it after each heavy use: tables and chairs wiped, kitchen counters, sinks and appliance exteriors cleaned, and floors swept and mopped. Classrooms, nurseries and youth rooms get tables, toys on open shelves and door handles wiped, with floors vacuumed or mopped.

Church offices and the pastor’s study get standard janitorial services. Restroom paper towels, toilet tissue, soap and liners can be supplied and restocked by our team, or we can keep using the stock in your own supply closet.

Parking, entries and grounds

For most visitors, the first part of your campus they see is the parking lot. Parking lot sweeping and litter pickup can be timed for Saturday, so the lot is clear before the first car pulls in. Entry walks, steps and plazas are pressure washed on a calendar, and gum and spills are lifted before a wedding or a large holiday crowd.

Our landscaping and grounds crews mow, edge, trim shrubs and clear debris around the building. The same plan covers light upkeep inside: lamp replacement, faucet and toilet repairs, ceiling tiles and HVAC filter changes, logged by the crew and fixed without a separate vendor.

Following the rhythm of the worship year

The weekly schedule is set around your services. A full clean late in the week leaves the building ready for the weekend, and a Sunday evening or Monday morning reset clears restrooms, the hall and the kitchen before weekday groups return. Midweek services and evening classes can be added as short touch-up visits.

Christmas, Easter, the High Holy Days, Ramadan, Vaisakhi, weddings, funerals and festivals all bring larger crowds. Extra visits go on the calendar ahead of time. Quieter summer weeks are a good window for heavier floor work: strip-and-refinish of hall and classroom vinyl, hot water extraction of sanctuary carpet, and marble or terrazzo care in older entries.

Keys, trust and building your plan

Crews often work when the building is empty, holding keys and alarm codes. Every crew member is background-checked. Continental holds insurance, bonding and workers’ compensation coverage, and your church receives a certificate of insurance for its files. Supervisors make quality inspections against the written checklist.

Cost follows the size of the campus, how many services and events happen each week, the floor types, and whether grounds, the lot and maintenance join the plan. After a tour with your staff or committee, you receive a written quote that lists every service, so your board can approve one line item instead of five.

A few useful answers

Common questions.

Can the fellowship hall be ready for a Monday meeting after a busy Sunday?

Yes. A Sunday evening or early Monday visit resets restrooms, the hall and the kitchen before weekday groups arrive.

Who decides how the altar, ark or prayer hall is cleaned?

Your clergy or facilities lead. Their instructions go into the checklist, and crews follow them on every visit.

We rely on volunteers for some cleaning. Can your crew work alongside them?

Yes. The plan spells out which tasks the crew covers and which stay with volunteers, so nothing is done twice or left undone.

Can grounds care and parking lot sweeping join the cleaning plan?

Yes. Landscaping, lot sweeping, pressure washing and light maintenance all run under the same schedule and service manager as the interior cleaning.

Do you add visits for holidays, weddings and memorials?

Yes. Extra cleanings are booked ahead of major holidays and around weddings, memorial services and other events on your calendar.
