Class A office lobby with a polished stone floor and glass curtain wall

A clinic that greets owners and pets alike

Pet owners size up an animal hospital in the first minute: the smell at the door, the hair along the baseboards, the paw prints across the lobby tile. Continental Facilities resets each of those details overnight, so the front desk opens to a room that looks cared for and a building that smells like nothing at all.

Behind the reception counter, the work changes. Exam rooms, treatment areas, surgery suites and boarding wards each follow the cleaning protocol your practice already uses, and our crews carry it out room by room after the last appointment leaves.

Reception, retail shelves and waiting areas

Waiting rooms collect fur, dander and tracked-in dirt faster than any office lobby. Crews vacuum and damp-mop hard floors edge to edge, wipe bench seating and scales, clean the glass on entry doors and display cases, and dust the food and supply shelves in the retail corner. Separate dog and cat waiting zones get the same attention, along with the low spots where pets sit and press their noses.

Restrooms and the staff break room are cleaned and restocked each visit. Paper towels, hand soap and can liners are either delivered with our janitorial supplies or pulled from the clinic’s storeroom, as you choose.

Exam rooms and treatment areas to your protocol

Your practice sets the standard for clinical rooms, and the crew checklist is written straight from it. Exam tables, counters, sinks, door handles and floors in each exam room are cleaned in the order your protocol lists, and treatment areas, surgery suites and isolation rooms are handled the same way. Terminal cleaning is available on request for a surgery suite or isolation room that needs to be taken back to bare surfaces.

Each EPA-registered disinfectant gets its full label dwell time on tables and counters before anyone wipes it down. Crew members also carry HIPAA-aware training and bloodborne-pathogen safety training, and nobody on the crew will read, sort or move medical records, intake forms or screens.

Boarding wards, kennels and grooming rooms

Where the clinic boards animals overnight, the cleaning plan works around the animals in residence. Crews coordinate with the technician on duty, clean empty runs and kennels first, wash walls and kennel doors at the levels pets reach, and squeegee floors toward the drains. Occupied runs are handled the way your staff directs. Grooming and bathing rooms get tubs, tables and floors cleaned and hair cleared from drains and corners.

Floors in these rooms take water every day. Periodic machine scrubbing, plus floor care such as strip-and-refinish on vinyl tile, keeps them from turning dull and stained between deep cleanings.

Neighborhood clinics to 24-hour hospitals

Veterinary practices in our service area range from compact clinics in neighborhood retail centers to standalone animal hospitals with surgery, imaging and boarding under one roof, and emergency hospitals that stay open overnight. They sit in every market we cover, from San Jose and the Peninsula through the East Bay to the Sacramento region and Reno.

For a clinic that never closes, cleaning moves through the building in sections during the quietest hours, keeping one treatment area and one exam room available to the overnight team at all times.

Entries, relief areas and the parking lot

The outside of a veterinary building sees heavy use. Dog relief areas, side doors and entry walks are pressure washed on a set calendar through our pressure washing service, with crews protecting nearby storm drains while they work. Parking lot sweeping and litter pickup keep the arrival clean, and landscaping keeps the planting beds trimmed around the sign.

Inside, our facility maintenance team handles lamp replacement, faucet and toilet repairs, damaged ceiling tiles and HVAC filter changes. Filters in a building full of pet hair load quickly, so those changes go on the same calendar as the cleaning.

Your clinic’s plan and written quote

Crews placed in your clinic are background-checked. Your practice receives a certificate of insurance showing Continental’s insurance and bond, and workers’ compensation covers each person on the crew. Supervisors walk the rooms on quality inspections and send findings to your practice manager.

A walkthrough with your practice manager covers the protocol, the kennel layout, opening hours and any exterior or maintenance work you want included. Your quote then lists each area and its cleaning frequency, so you can see exactly what happens each night before the first appointment.

A few useful answers

Common questions.

Who decides how exam and surgery rooms are cleaned?

Your practice does. The crew checklist follows your written protocol for products, sequence and frequency, and you can order terminal cleaning for a single room or the whole clinical wing.

How are kennels cleaned when animals are boarding overnight?

Empty runs are cleaned first, and occupied runs are handled the way your technician on duty directs. Crews check in with that person before starting.

Can you work in an emergency hospital that is open 24 hours?

Yes. Crews clean in sections during the slowest hours, so at least one exam room and one treatment area stay open to your team throughout.

What keeps the lobby from smelling like animals by midday?

Overnight cleaning removes hair and soil from floors, seating and baseboards, and a midday porter visit can be added to spot-mop and empty trash.

Is pressure washing for the relief area part of the same plan?

Yes. Relief areas, entry walks and side doors are washed on a calendar alongside parking lot sweeping and grounds work, under one service manager.
